Dr Mike for 'The Bachelor'? Show Eyes 2015's 'Sexiest Doctor Alive' for Major Return to 'Old-School' Roots
Producers reportedly want a lead focused on finding love rather than influencer fame

Dr Mike Varshavski could be the surprise face of The Bachelor's 30th season, with the internet-famous physician reportedly approached about taking the lead role.
The 36-year-old doctor, better known online as Dr Mike, has built a huge following through his medical and lifestyle content, giving him a profile outside the reality-TV franchise. Producers are said to be considering him as the long-running ABC dating show prepares for its 2027 return and seeks to change its casting approach.
'The Bachelor' Eyes Dr Mike for Season 30
The reported approach comes as The Bachelor looks to return to its 'old-school roots', with producers seeking a lead who is genuinely interested in finding a relationship rather than simply becoming an influencer.
In July, The US Sun reported that the franchise had hired a new casting team as part of an effort to increase viewership. 'They need a fresh start,' a source told the publication, claiming the show would move away from its tradition of selecting someone already connected to the franchise.
The source added that producers wanted someone 'who's serious about looking for love and not just in it to be an influencer'. The next Bachelor was expected to be in his 30s, have a good career and 'good morals'. 'It will be like the earlier years of the show, for sure,' the source said.
Dr Mike's medical career and profile outside reality television could make him a potential fit for that casting brief. However, Page Six has only reported that producers contacted him, and neither ABC nor Dr Mike has confirmed that he will lead Season 30.
Who Is Dr Mike?
Dr Mike, whose real name is Mikhail Varshavski, is a family medicine physician and social media personality who became widely known for combining medical advice with online entertainment.
He has built a substantial audience across YouTube and Instagram, where he discusses health, medicine, and popular culture. Dr Mike reportedly has around 15.1 million YouTube followers and 5.6 million Instagram followers.
His online profile also helped propel him to wider fame, and People magazine named him 'The Sexiest Doctor Alive' in 2015.
Dr Mike has continued working as a physician while building his media career. The New Yorker reported earlier this year that he sees patients two days a week at a health centre in Chatham, New Jersey, and donates his salary back to the centre.
Dr Mike's Dating History
A potential Bachelor appearance would also put Dr Mike's personal life under greater scrutiny.
He was previously publicly linked to Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, and the pair dated in 2016. He has also been publicly linked to influencer Lina Belfiore, with Just Jared reporting that the pair were last photographed together in early 2026. Their current relationship status remains unclear.
What Would Dr Mike Bring to 'The Bachelor'?
If selected, Dr Mike would offer the franchise a different type of Bachelor, combining an established professional career with an existing social-media audience.
His medical background, online popularity, and previous public relationships could also make him a recognisable figure with a substantial following if he ultimately joins the show.
