Assistant Principal and Husband Arrested After Allegedly Assaulting 2 Men During Kid's Softball Game
Police say a man allegedly used a metal water bottle during the altercation

A youth softball game near Houston descended into violence after a dispute over cheering, leaving two spectators injured and a married couple facing criminal charges.
Kiarious Marshun Hall and his wife, Jazmine Hall, were arrested following the altercation at Imperial Park in Sugar Land, Texas, on Saturday, 24 October. The game involved two select softball teams featuring 12-year-old girls.
The incident has raised concerns about spectator behaviour at children's sporting events, where disagreements between adults can escalate and overshadow the young athletes.
Argument Over Cheering Escalates Into Violent Fight
According to court documents, the confrontation began when a spectator challenged Kiarious Hall over his cheering shortly before a pitch. Hall told police the man objected to him cheering before the ball was released, but he continued regardless.
The disagreement escalated when another man became involved. Investigators reviewing witness-recorded footage reportedly saw Hall swing a metal water bottle at one man's face, knocking him unconscious. He allegedly swung the bottle at another spectator as the confrontation developed into a physical fight.
Hall claimed he acted in self-defence, alleging the men had elbowed him and poked his chest. However, investigators said the footage they reviewed did not support his account of the alleged contact preceding the assault.
The video reportedly showed Jazmine Hall entering the altercation and striking a man who had intervened.
The first victim was taken to hospital with serious head injuries. His attorney, Steve Shellist, said his client suffered a broken jaw, a fractured skull and three brain bleeds.
Grandfather Injured While Trying to Stop Brawl
Gary Greaser, a grandfather attending the game to support his granddaughter, was also injured after intervening. He suffered a broken hip, cuts and extensive scrapes, while his chin required seven stitches.
Greaser explained why he stepped into the confrontation. 'I said "You can't do this." I took him, I wanted to disarm the guy, because he's going to do it to somebody else,' he told ABC13.
Sugar Land police arrested both Halls. Court records show Kiarious Hall faces two counts of assault causing bodily injury, while Jazmine Hall faces one count.
Jazmine Hall was an assistant principal at Lamar Junior High School. She reported the incident to her employer's human resources department and resigned effective 26 October.
In a statement, the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District said the incident occurred outside school and was unrelated to district-sponsored activities. It added that employees, particularly those in leadership positions, were expected to maintain high standards of professional conduct.
Similar Incidents Raise Concerns Over Youth Sports Safety
The brawl came amid wider concerns about violence at sporting events involving children. On 18 October, a separate shooting after an adult-league softball game in the Houston area left one person dead and three others injured. The incidents are separate, with no established connection between them.
Illusions Gold Fastpitch, the organisation associated with the team Hall's daughter played for, announced that those involved had been permanently dismissed and that the team was no longer affiliated with the programme.
Shellist said he was discussing the case with the Fort Bend County District Attorney's Office and wanted prosecutors to consider upgrading the charges given his client's injuries.
