Canadian political commentator and YouTuber Lauren Southern has made explosive allegations against controversial influencer Andrew Tate in her newly released memoir, This Is Not Real Life.

The book, published in July 2025, includes a detailed account of an alleged sexual assault that took place during a trip to Romania in 2018.

New Details of the Night with Tate in Bucharest

Southern recounts that the incident took place during a February 2018 trip to Romania. The visit, she says, was to explore a media venture with Andrew Tate. After a night out at a club, Southern says she consumed 'one cocktail and a shot' before becoming severely intoxicated and vomiting. She alleges she was then carried back to her hotel room by Tate. Though they briefly kissed, she repeatedly said 'no' to further advances.

As reported by News.com.au, Southern writes that Tate 'strangled her unconscious' before sexually assaulting her, taking advantage of her vulnerability. Per her account, Tate would continuously strangle her until she becomes unconscious every time she wakes up during the ordeal.

While she does not explicitly claim she was drugged, she notes her level of intoxication felt disproportionate to what she had consumed. This kind of experience is labeled as getting 'roofied' where victims are drugged without their knowledge.

Why Lauren Southern Stayed Silent About Andrew Tate Allegations

Southern says the psychological impact of the alleged assault kept her silent for years, made harder by her anti-feminist public image. In her memoir, she writes that she sought help at a Romanian women's hospital a week later but received little support.

Attempts to report the incident in Romania, the UK, and Canada were unsuccessful, with authorities citing jurisdictional issues. She describes the experience as 'deeply disillusioning' and says it left her feeling powerless despite trying to do the 'right thing'.

Tate Yet to Respond as He Faces Unrelated Criminal Charges

As of publication, Andrew Tate has not publicly responded to the allegations made in Southern's memoir. According to the Economic Times, Southern claims that Tate 'strangled and raped her while she was unconscious' during the incident in February 2018, and that authorities in the UK told her the case could not proceed outside Romania. The former kickboxer and online influencer is currently under house arrest in Romania while awaiting trial for separate charges, including rape, human trafficking, and forming an organised criminal group.

The allegations made by Southern are not linked to the ongoing legal proceedings but have drawn renewed public scrutiny on Tate's past behaviour and relationships with women.

Lauren Southern's Political Shift After Memoir Allegations Against Andrew Tate

Southern's memoir not only chronicles her alleged assault but also signals a significant shift in her political and personal identity. She criticises former allies like Tommy Robinson, whom she describes as 'a coke-snorting scammer', and distances herself from the far-right movement that once defined her public image.

She also discusses her experiences with marriage, divorce, and motherhood, portraying a life deeply affected by trauma and personal transformation.

Public Reaction to Lauren Southern's Andrew Tate Allegations

Public reaction to Southern's memoir has been sharply divided. While some have applauded her decision to come forward, others within the conservative online space have accused her of betrayal or questioned her motives.

Her claims add to growing tensions within the alt-right media ecosystem, where internal criticisms and ideological splits are becoming more visible.

Will There Be Legal Action After Lauren Southern's Allegations?

It remains unclear whether Lauren Southern's allegations will lead to any legal proceedings. The claims outlined in her memoir are not connected to the ongoing charges Andrew Tate faces in Romania, but they have prompted renewed attention on his past conduct. As of now, there has been no public response from Tate regarding Southern's account.
