Richard Gere and Carey Lowell to Divorce after 11 Years

Hollywood actor Richard Gere and his wife Carey Lowell have reportedly ended their 11-year marriage.

According to US reports, the Pretty Woman star and former model Lowell have separated and were planning to divorce.

The couple, who have a 13-year-old son together, are said to be have grown apart and were living separate lives. Gere allegedly likes the quiet life while his former Bond girl wife enjoys socialising with other industry heavyweights.

"They have a place in Bedford [New York] and he likes it because it's quiet and he likes the solitude," a source told the New York Post.

"She likes being in North Haven in the limelight. They live next door to Jimmy Buffett and his family, and they're good friends."

Gere started dating Lowell in 1995 after his divorce from supermodel Cindy Crawford. They tied the knot in secret in November 2002.

At the time the 64-year-old heartthrob said Lowell "changed my life".

"It's time to tell the world that I am happier, more open and relaxed than I have ever been in my life. I asked her to marry me three years ago, but we have only just got around to doing it," he said.

Lowell has been married three times. Her first husband was fashion photographer John Stember and her second was actor Griffin Dunne with whom she has a daughter, Hannah Dunne.

The pair were last photographed together on the red carpet in January at the Golden Globes.
