Did Mystery Glove Belong to Nancy Guthrie Kidnapper? DNA Analysis Reveals Surprising Discovery
Authorities identify DNA in glove found near Guthrie's home, but the search for her kidnapper continues.

A new development in the Nancy Guthrie case might finally bring investigators closer to identifying the 84-year-old's kidnapper. Experts have analysed one of the mysterious gloves discovered around Guthrie's residence and found DNA within its fibres. After several weeks of speculation and dead ends, could this evidence at last point to the person behind her disappearance?
DNA Clue In Glove Near Nancy Guthrie's Home Takes A Turn
Nancy Guthrie was reported missing on 1 February after she disappeared in the early hours of the morning. However, it wasn't until roughly two weeks later that investigators discovered a glove about two miles from her Tucson, Arizona home. The item closely resembled the gloves worn by a masked individual captured on surveillance footage outside her front porch.
Authorities quickly sent the glove for DNA testing, hoping it might provide crucial evidence about who abducted the 84-year-old mother of Today co-host Savannah Guthrie, and hopefully learn what motive may have been behind her disappearance.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has now confirmed the findings. In an interview with local outlet KVOA, Nanos revealed that they have identified the glove's owner.
'There was some talk and discussion that it was police officers out in the field just discarding [the gloves], that is so far from the truth,' Nanos said.
'We knew that at that time, we believed wholeheartedly that those gloves belonged to a restaurant and guess what? The owner of the glove, we found working at a restaurant across the street,' he added.
So is this the kidnapper in Guthrie's case? Nanos was quick to point out that the discovery 'has nothing to do with the case'. He also confirmed that there were other gloves found in the same area, and those were sent to a laboratory in Florida, which could mean the search for the real kidnapper is still ongoing.
'It's a challenge because we know we have DNA, but now we have to deal with that mixture and how we're going to separate it,' Nanos stated.
Nanos chose not to share the identity of the individual whose DNA was found in the glove. Likewise, he did not disclose the name of the restaurant they work at, or whether authorities have interviewed the said individual.
Theories Grow: Could There Be More Than One Kidnapper?
Guthrie's disappearance has been plagued by a lack of leads. Although there is several pieces of footage of a masked suspect tinkering with Guthrie's Ring camera before her abduction, the perpetrator has not yet been identified.
More recent reports suggested that Guthrie had more than just one kidnapper. Former NYPD detective Joe Giacalone pointed out that blood spatter evidence found in the woman's home suggests someone was holding Guthrie up while waiting for a car to transport them away from the residence.
'I believe there's a strong likelihood of more than one perpetrator, because you know, listen, it didn't appear that they had a vehicle waiting out front ready to take her away, right?' Giacalone said.
Meanwhile, Guthrie's daughter Savannah and her other adult children have offered a $1 million reward for anyone who can provide leads that could result in their mother's safe return.
