A Texas teacher has taken the internet by storm after his TikTok video of a classroom pizza party went viral—but not for the reason you'd think. While the first slice was 'on the house,' the teacher's controversial one-party 'rule' had netizens divided: any student wanting a second slice had to pay for it.

As the debate rages over whether this is a lesson in economics or a step too far, many are asking who should really be footing the bill for classroom treats. Here is a look at the reactions flooding the comments.

Texas Teacher Goes Viral for His 'Free' Pizza Party Rule

A Texas teacher who goes by the name Mr J on social media with a handle @artnyethescienceguy has gone viral over his 'free' pizza party video and the rule he establish in the party.

In the video, which was posted back on 27 June 2025 and was reshared on social media by social media personality Hustle Bitch (@hustlebitch), Mr J captioned the original video with: 'Little did they know, they paid for their own pizza party 😂' which has garnered more than five million views.

In the video, Mr J is seen with so many boxes of pizza and drinks, he explained to his class that everyone gets a slice and a drink for free. But the one-party rule that got the internet divided is that anyone who wants another slice of pizza and a drink will have to pay $2 (£1.48) for pizza and $1 (£0.74) per drink.

'So ladies and gentlemen, as promised, soldier, I got you a piece for y'all. So I have a variety of different options. I got cheese, I got eight boxes of cheese. Bacon and pepperoni was like equally voted. So I got four boxes of each. Alright? Eight boxes of pepperoni. Then I got four boxes of sausage,' he said.

He added, 'First slice is free, the second slice is gonna run you. Any additional slice is gonna run you two dollars. The cash app is back there. No refund.'

Mr J even showed how many students are lining up and joked, 'Look at that. Ha! I was jumping like a crackhouse over here.'

When everyone got a slice, the teacher made it sure and said, 'All my students get a slice? Now I can start making my money.'

He added, 'The drink is a dollar, the pizza is two dollars. So if you want a drink and this, what's the call it? Send me three dollars. You see proof of payment. So if your internet ain't working, you better make it work.'

Mr J then showed off his profit on the camera after all the pizza and drink ran out.

The Netizen's Take

The reshared video was flooded with mixed reaction on the comments. Some things that are not okay to say that the pizza party was free, if at the end, Mr J will charge the student. While some think the teacher is merely teaching them how the world works, nothing is free or simple economics.

One said, 'Teachers do not get paid enough to throw a pizza party... half of Americans don't even believe in free lunch...so yes the kids might have to buy a slice for him to be able to afford it.'

While another one said, 'If I saw this sh*t in my sons school I'd yank him so quick nobody would even notice!'

Another netizen calls out Mr J, 'You make money off using them for content they can't get free pizza ?'

Meanwhile, a parent even cited an example, saying, 'He just showed kids how to make money!!!! That's the lesson....my son was in 5th grade when him and his best friend pooled 2 20s went to Costco bought the big boxes of chips and boxes of candy. They turned that $40 into $120 by the end of the month they had accumulated nearly $600 when the principal put a stop to it! We were angry but my son continues to survive on those very lessons!'

Mr. J Addressed the Video

Since the video was reshared and went viral, Mr J has turned to social media to address it. He clarified that the video was made eight months ago, and he threw the pizza party at the end of the school year.

He said, 'People have come to the conclusion that I was trying to scam and profit off these kids. And if you think I would try to scam a bunch of fourteen and fifteen-year-olds, you have lost your mind.'

Mr J did the math and revealed that he provided pizza for seven class periods—roughly 140 students, which needed a huge amount of money for it, but said that he uses a Buy One, Get One fundraiser card, and he managed to secure 24 boxes of pizza.

'A menu price large Domino's pizza is $13 to $15... The original price, I think, was about $350, $360. Close to almost $400,' he explained, showing his receipt. 'Where was the profit ever made in that? That's not even including how much I spent on the drinks.'

He added, 'It was optional. I didn't force anybody to buy a slice of pizza... If you do the math... that's only about $187. I gave away one slice of pizza and a drink to all my students.'

Mr J also said that it wasn't about the money; it was about the culture of teaching and cited that the 'outrage culture' was the reason why teachers are leaving.

'This is why teachers leave the profession. It's not the kids. It's the adults. Y'all take the fun out of teaching... The little fun that we do have, y'all just got something to cry and moan about,' he said.
