ICE Agents Under Fire as Viral SFO Video Shows Mother Taken by Force in Front of Crying Child
Public outrage grows over the woman's restraint in front of her child, fueling debates on immigration enforcement and family impact

Viral footage from San Francisco International Airport has triggered widespread outrage after appearing to show a woman being restrained and taken into custody in front of her young child. The incident, which reportedly took place on Sunday night around 10:00 p.m. at San Francisco International Airport, has drawn attention to the actions of federal immigration enforcement officers.
The videos, widely shared on social media, appear to show plainclothes officers restraining a woman while a child stands nearby crying. The footage quickly circulated online, sparking strong reactions from viewers and prompting calls for clarification from authorities.
What Witnesses Say Happened
According to eyewitness accounts, two men in plainclothes approached the woman and allegedly took her passport before restraining her. Witnesses reported that the woman appeared distressed and resisted as officers attempted to detain her.
Multiple videos show the woman being placed into a wheelchair while struggling, with what appear to be handcuffs visible. A crowd gathered around the scene, with some bystanders filming and others shouting at officers.
In one video, a member of the crowd can be heard asking the agents to show identification or a badge, but they reportedly refused to do so, further escalating tension among onlookers.

Reports from witnesses also indicate that the woman was accompanied by a young girl who was seen crying throughout the incident. The scene reportedly drew the attention of multiple onlookers, creating a tense and chaotic environment inside the airport.
Police Presence and Role
Officers from the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) were present at the scene. According to official statements given to SFGATE, they responded to a 911 call and arrived to ensure public safety while federal officers carried out the enforcement action.
Authorities clarified that SFPD officers do not participate in enforcing civil federal immigration laws. Their presence was reportedly limited to maintaining order and managing the growing crowd of bystanders.
Video footage appears to show officers forming a perimeter around the area while the situation unfolded, with some officers escorting the individuals as they exited the public space.
Federal Response and Identifications
The Department of Homeland Security confirmed the identities of the woman and child as individuals from Guatemala. 'ICE officers arrested Angelina Lopez-Jimenez and Wendy Godinez-Lopez at the San Francisco International Airport. These illegal aliens had a final removal order of removal from an immigration judge since 2019,' the statement reads.
Officials stated that the incident occurred while federal officers were transporting two individuals for an outbound flight. The agency has not released detailed information about the nature of the enforcement action but confirmed involvement of officers from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
A spokesperson for San Francisco International Airport stated that the airport was not notified in advance and was not involved in the operation. Officials described the situation as an isolated incident and emphasised that airport operations were not disrupted.
Public Reaction and Political Response
The videos have generated significant public reaction, with many users expressing concern over the manner in which the woman was restrained in front of her child. Some bystanders in the footage can be heard questioning the officers and calling for badge numbers while others shouted objections.
California state Senator Scott Wiener shared the video on social media, criticising the actions of federal agents and describing the scene as deeply troubling. His remarks reflect growing political scrutiny over immigration enforcement practices in public spaces.
The incident has intensified ongoing debates in the United States regarding the role of federal immigration agencies, the visibility of enforcement actions, and the impact such operations may have on families and children present during detentions.
