The search for Nancy Guthrie has reached a critical turning point as investigators struggle to process a massive influx of new leads.

While the FBI tip line remains overwhelmed with information, her loved ones are gripped by the terrifying reality of each passing hour. With every sunset, the pressure intensifies to find answers before the trail goes cold for good.

Reward Ignites Public Response

Authorities have seen a massive surge in reports following the news that a $1 million (approximately £740,000) reward is being offered to help locate Nancy Guthrie. This influx of information arrives while the hunt for the mother of 'Today' anchor Savannah Guthrie stretches into a second month, yet investigators have still not taken anyone into custody.

The FBI told CNN that approximately 750 reliable leads have been submitted since Savannah Guthrie announced the payout. In an Instagram post, the 'Today' presenter shared, 'We still believe in a miracle. We still believe she can come home.'

'But we need to know where she is. We need her to come home. For that reason, we are offering a family reward of up to $1 million for any information that leads us to her recovery. Someone out there knows something that can bring her home,' she added.

Alongside the reward, Guthrie has pledged a $500,000 (around £360,000) donation to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. This new $1 million figure significantly bolsters the existing $100,000 (£73,950) offered by the FBI, as well as the $102,500 (£75,798.75) currently promised by the Pima County and Tucson-area branch of Crime Stoppers.

Health Concerns and Extortion Threats

Since her disappearance in the early hours of 1 February, the FBI has handled more than 22,000 calls concerning Guthrie. Meanwhile, local news outlets have been sent unverified ransom letters, allegedly from those holding Guthrie, which demand payments reaching into the millions.

Guthrie's vulnerability grows with each passing day, as she requires consistent medical attention for high blood pressure and a heart condition that involves a pacemaker. Her dependence on daily medication means the risks to her health become increasingly severe the longer she remains missing.

CCTV Evidence and Forensic Dead Ends

Despite the 84-year-old being missing for some time, police have shared very little progress and have yet to identify a suspect. Detectives have, however, made public CCTV clips that show a masked, armed individual carrying a rucksack while interfering with Guthrie's home security system on the morning she vanished.

According to the local sheriff's department, a set of gloves discovered two miles from Guthrie's Catalina Foothills residence near Tucson 'did not trigger a match' in the FBI's national database. Furthermore, tests confirmed that the items did not match the DNA found at the property during the initial investigation.

The Search for a Suspect

Detectives have described the masked individual as of average build, standing between 5'9" and 5'10". While sources informed ABC News and CNN that this person might have returned to Guthrie's property on a separate occasion, local officers have brushed aside these claims as premature.

'We are aware that doorbell images released earlier in the investigation depict a suspect in different stages of attire, including with and without a backpack. There is no date or time stamp associated with these images,' the Pima County Sheriff's Department told The Independent on Monday. 'Therefore, any suggestion that the photographs were taken on different days is purely speculative.'

Reports suggest that police have approached neighbours to request any security footage recorded from the start of January. They are particularly interested in the late-night period of 11 January and the early hours of 31 January as they work to piece together the events leading up to her disappearance.

While police have advised the public to leave the search to the experts, groups of volunteers have continued to spread out across the rural land surrounding Guthrie's property.
