Prince Harry 'Snubbed' as Trump Announces King Charles' White House Visit
State Visit to Celebrate UK-US Relations Amidst Notable Absence of Prince Harry

US President Donald Trump has publicly confirmed that King Charles III and Queen Camilla will undertake a formal state visit to the United States from 27-30 April, highlighted by a state banquet at the White House in Washington, D.C.- a centrepiece of the trip marking the 250th anniversary of American independence.
In his official public announcement via a post on his Truth Social account, Trump said, 'Melania and I are pleased to announce that Their Majesties, the King and Queen of the United Kingdom, will visit the United States for a Historic State Visit from April 27-30th, which will include a beautiful Banquet Dinner at the White House on the evening of April 28th.'
Meanwhile, in an official statement posted by Buckingham Palace, the visit was confirmed to take place 'on advice of His Majesty's Government, and at the invitation of the President of the United States.'
The statement, published on the royal family's official social media channel on X (formerly Twitter), added that the programme will 'celebrate the historic connections and the modern bilateral relationship between the UK and the US.'
Absent from that announcement and from the official itinerary released so far by Buckingham Palace and the White House is any reference to Prince Harry, who resides in California and is the King's younger son.
Multiple outlets reporting on the trip have noted that there are no scheduled engagements involving Harry during the state visit, and sources say the tightly packed schedule, which is focused on state business and ceremonial duties, leaves little room for personal meetings.
Why Harry's Absence Draws Attention
State visits are among the highest-profile diplomatic events in international relations, designed to cement ties between nations and often involving formal ceremonies, military honours, and official banquets. A state banquet at the White House is traditionally one of the most symbolic gestures of bilateral friendship.

By contrast, Prince Harry, who has lived full-time in the US since stepping back from senior royal duties in 2020, is not part of the state visit, and palace sources have stressed he is unlikely to travel to Washington for the occasion. Several outlets point out that no official side-meeting with the King or Queen is planned, despite the fact that Harry already lives in the host country.
Trump and Harry's Public Rift
Part of the backdrop to this high-profile royal absence lies in a strained relationship between Trump and Harry, with the former frequently taking aim at the Duke of Sussex in public comments. Trump has previously criticised Harry as being 'used' by his wife, Meghan Markle, and suggested Harry might regret his decisions after leaving his loyal duties.
More broadly, Harry's position in the United States has also drawn scrutiny from political figures, including President Donald Trump. According to a report by NBC News, Trump suggested that Harry should not receive 'special privileges' in relation to his US visa, and indicated that authorities would need to take action if any rules had been broken.

The comments came amid wider questions over Harry's immigration status following his own admissions of past drug use, with Trump's remarks reinforcing a more critical stance toward the Duke.
While not directly tied to diplomatic matters, such statements have contributed to a broader perception of distance between Trump and Prince Harry, adding context to his absence from high-profile events involving senior members of the Royal Family.
To date, neither the White House nor Buckingham Palace has issued a statement explicitly addressing Harry's absence from the state visit schedule. Palace spokespeople have focused on the historic nature of the trip and its diplomatic objectives, while US officials have reiterated the importance of hosting King Charles as head of state.
