Nicki Minaj and her company, Pink Friday Productions, are facing a lawsuit alleging they failed to reimburse a production firm more than $275,000 (approximately £206,000) in costs advanced for live shows and promotional events tied to her 2023 performances and album rollout. The suit has been filed by 24/7 Productions, which alleges its invoices were repeatedly ignored for years.

The dispute centres on services rendered across multiple engagements, with court documents alleging that Minaj's team approved budgets before work began — and then declined to settle the outstanding balance.

Production Firm Details Years-Long Dispute

According to court filings, 24/7 Productions began working with Nicki Minaj as early as 2022, providing live production services for the MTV Video Music Awards. The relationship reportedly continued into late 2023, when Minaj enlisted the firm for her Jingle Ball performances and the launch of her album 'Pink Friday 2.'

The company alleges it provided comprehensive production support — staffing, audio and lighting systems, rigging, transportation, and full logistical coordination — advancing over $275,000 (approximately £206,000) in costs upfront, with the expectation of reimbursement from Minaj's team. The filing asserts that all services were delivered in full and that concerts and promotional events ran without disruption.

Approved Budgets, Unpaid Bills

The lawsuit claims payment never materialised, even after Pink Friday Productions reportedly received substantial earnings from the performances. The filing alleges that Minaj's company was paid approximately $650,000 (approximately £486,000) for Jingle Ball appearances alone, while the outstanding balance to the production firm remained unsettled. The contrast between what Pink Friday Productions received and what 24/7 Productions was allegedly owed forms the centrepiece of the breach of contract claim.

Repeated attempts to recover the funds were allegedly met with the same vague response. The company claims Minaj's representatives replied with the phrase 'We'll look into this' on multiple occasions, with no concrete resolution following. That alleged pattern of deflection forms a central part of the breach of contract claim now before the court. 24/7 Productions is seeking damages exceeding $275,000 (approximately £206,000).

Financial Stakes

The case highlights the financial risks routinely taken by production companies in the live entertainment industry. Firms like 24/7 Productions frequently front large sums to ensure major events proceed without disruption, relying on timely reimbursement to keep their own operations solvent. When payments stall, the consequences can ripple through crews, contractors, and suppliers who depend on those funds. For smaller production companies working with major artists, the power imbalance makes recovery difficult and litigation often the only option left. This lawsuit is one such case.

For Minaj, the lawsuit adds legal pressure at a time when her 'Pink Friday 2' era has otherwise marked a significant commercial return.

No Response Yet

At the time of publication, Nicki Minaj had not publicly responded to the allegations. It remains unclear whether the case will proceed to trial or be resolved through settlement negotiations. Breach of contract cases of this nature typically hinge on documentation — approved budgets, correspondence, and evidence of agreed obligations on both sides. In the present case, 24/7 Productions claims it has that paper trail, including approved budgets and a record of repeated follow-up attempts that went unanswered.
