13-Year-Old Boy Detained for the Death of 31-Year-Old Oklahoma Resident
Oklahoma authorities arrest a 13-year-old boy in connection with the death of his mother, Malary Clayton.

A 13-year-old child is the primary suspect in the killing of a 31-year-old Oklahoma resident.
The Bryan County Sheriff's Office arrested a 13-year-old boy after finding Malary Clayton, 31, dead in her Colbert home on 27 February. The office released a statement in a Facebook post confirming Clayton as the victim, while the juvenile suspect was not named.
Clayton was identified as the suspect's mother, according to KXII, an Oklahoma news station. The Bryan County Sheriff's Office enlisted the assistance of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation after someone reported finding Clayton unresponsive in her home. Deputies arrived at around 6:45pm and confirmed Clayton died from a gunshot wound.
KOCO News noted that Clayton's body bore injuries consistent with homicide. In a press release, OSBI confirmed the boy had become a person of interest.
Suspect Found After Interstate Search Effort
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol issued a missing person alert that night, prompting a search. Authorities found the boy the morning after in Grayson County, just across the Texas border.
'It was the next day, early morning hours, around 6:30 of the 28th, when the 13-year-old was found and placed into custody by the sheriff's office in that area,' OSBI Public Information Manager Hunter McKee told the outlet.
'Right now, the OSBI is still working on our reports and our investigation,' McKee clarified. 'We will then turn that over to the Bryan County District Attorney's Office, who, of course, will determine official charges.'
No official charges have been filed, but the suspect has been booked on a first-degree murder complaint. He was taken into custody at a Texas juvenile detention centre.
Sheriff Calls for Public's Compassion
Bryan County Sheriff Joey Tucker stated they received no prior complaints or incidents concerning Clayton or her son that may have hinted at the 27 February incident.
'Right now, our focus is on compassion, on truth, and on supporting our community through this difficult time,' he said. 'We ask that everyone allow space for the families involved to grieve privately and respectfully. Please keep them in your prayers.'
Sheriff Tucker appealed for the public's empathy due to the sensitive nature of the case. 'There are no winners in a situation like this,' he asserted. 'Two lives and two futures are forever changed.'
'As a father, as a member of this community and as your Sheriff, I cannot express strongly enough how heavy this weighs on all of us. We recognise that there is pain on multiple sides of this tragedy, and our hearts go out to everyone impacted.'
Multi-Agency Effort and Next Steps
Tucker also commended the swift collaboration of multiple agencies that led to the arrest. 'Law enforcement agencies on both sides of the Red River came together without hesitation, and because of that coordination, the suspect was safely located and taken into custody,' he said.
'This remains an ongoing investigation, and we will continue to work closely with the District Attorney's Office as the legal process moves forward.'
Authorities confirmed they currently have no other outstanding suspects other than the 13-year-old.
