Norwich Stabbing: 15-Year-Old Boy Charged With Attempted Murder, Victim 'Doing Well'
Stabbing not linked to reported antisemitic chants in school, police said

A horrifying stabbing incident took place in Thorpe St Andrew School on Laundry Lane near Norwich in England on Wednesday, 11 March. It involved a 15-year-old boy who stabbed a teenage girl. The victim suffered a minor injury from the attack and is now 'doing well.'
Following the harrowing incident, the 15-year-old suspect was charged with attempted murder and possession of a knife on school premises.
Norwich School Stabbing
At around 10:24am on Wednesday, 11 March, law enforcement responded to an emergency call that an incident of stabbing had taken place in Thorpe St Andrew School on Laundry Lane.
Emergency services attended the scene, including firefighters and paramedics, who saw that a teenage girl was stabbed by a 15-year-old boy who cannot be named due to legal reasons.
In a statement on Thursday, 12 March, the Norfolk Police said: 'The 15-year-old boy was arrested and taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.'
Following the incident, Norfolk Police have vowed to continue reassurance patrols at the school and in the area over the coming days, as reported by The Independent.
According to the investigation, the police believed that the stabbing was not linked to reports of antisemitic chanting at the same school last week. The real motive behind the stabbing has yet to be announced by the authorities.
Students were required to remain in their classroom with their teacher after the incident, according to the Broad Horizons Education Trust, which runs the school.
Victim Now 'Doing Well'
The victim was immediately taken to the hospital and sustained minor injuries from the attack. She has since been discharged, and the teenage girl is 'doing well' and would be welcomed 'back to school when she is ready.'
'We are also very pleased to share some reassuring news that the student who was injured has been released from hospital. We understand she is doing well and wish her a quick recovery. We look forward to welcoming her back to school when she is ready,' Thorpe St Andrew School said in a statement.
Suspect Charged with Attempted Murder
Following the stabbing and his arrest, the 15-year-old boy has since been charged with attempted murder and possession of a knife on school premises, Norfolk Police said.
The boy has been remanded into custody and will appear at Norwich Youth Court today, 13 March.
The School's Statement About the Stabbing Incident
On Thursday, the school spoke about the incident. A spokesperson for Thorpe St Andrew school said: 'We have written to families to thank them for the many supportive messages we have received over the past day.'
The school also commended the response of their students during the incident, 'We want to recognise how well our staff and students responded during the lockdown.'
Thorpe St Andrew School said that their staff have remained calm throughout 'a prolonged and understandably distressing situation.'
Adding that staff focused on 'supporting and protecting the students in their care, who in turn showed great maturity and composure.'
They shared that during the incident, their 'staff needed to respond to the needs of the particular students in front of them and adapt their approach accordingly, always with the priority of keeping everyone safe and supported.'
'We understand how worrying this event was for families and want to thank our students who coped so well. We have shared a range of support measures we are providing for students, families, and the community for as long as it is needed,' they added.
The school said that they hope they will 'never have to put these protocols into practice again,' as well as other schools. They also thanked emergency services for their response.
