'Married At First Sight' star Mel Schilling has shared a devastating health update from her hospital bed, revealing that her cancer has now spread to her brain. The 54-year-old dating expert, who has been documenting her journey since her initial colon cancer diagnosis in late 2023, informed followers this week that medical options have been exhausted.

Despite the incurable nature of the secondary tumours, the TV judge remains determined to focus on her family and maintain her trademark resilience during this challenging time. The prominent Australian dating coach first went public with her stage three colon cancer diagnosis back in December 2023.

A Heartbreaking Turn in a Brave Battle

After having a 'lemon-sized' tumour removed, the television star previously told her Instagram followers that she had been given a clean bill of health. However, in a post uploaded this Friday, the 'MAFS' expert disclosed that recent imaging detected secondary cancer in her lungs and brain, with medical professionals stating that further treatment options are now unavailable.

Schilling noted that 'small nodules' were found in her lungs during a standard scan in late February 2024. The TV expert explained that 'the cancer had metastasised,' which shifted her perspective once more.

Throughout the previous two years of 'MAFS' filming, she completed 16 chemotherapy cycles and was subsequently informed she qualified for a 'groundbreaking clinical trial' for her specific gene type, scheduled for March 2026. This news briefly allowed her 'optimism' to grow regarding her recovery.

Facing the Unthinkable

However, during the recent Christmas period, Schilling started suffering from intense headaches and loss of feeling along the right side of her body. Following more scans, she learned the disease had moved into the left side of her brain.

'Despite subsequent radiotherapy sessions, my oncology team have now told me there is nothing further they can do,' Schilling shared. The reality star noted that 'hearing those words changes everything.' She added that while her 'light is starting to fade' rapidly, she remains 'still here, still fighting' while being supported by immense affection from those around her.

Schilling admitted that basic daily activities are now extremely challenging, leading her to rely heavily on her loved ones for support. She also posted a picture alongside her husband of 25 years, Gareth Brisbane, and their daughter, Maddie, whom she referred to as her 'everything'.

While she faces this incredibly difficult personal chapter, the public's outpouring of support reflects the deep impact she has had throughout her prominent on-screen career.
